Foundry of Reason

The beginning of philosophy is the recognition of the conflict between opinions. – Epictetus

The most fundamental truth that one must recognize to begin to interpret thoughts and ideas is that in its essence, every thought or idea is subjective. The natural byproduct of subjection is conflict. When a thought is presented, it is often challenged by others with opposing views. Conflict is necessary and should be greeted in the face of complexity as to keep a line of discussion open, as discussion is the root of finding truth.

Due to conflict and discussion I myself occasionally change my beliefs on an array of topics including but certainly not limited to metaphysics, epistemology, logic, ethics, morals, and aesthetics. I’d like to open all of my posts to discussion with everybody, especially those with opposing beliefs in search of truth and growth.

Here in the Foundry of Reason I will be discussing the array of topics listed above and many more. These topics can tend to be highly controversial, not for the faint hearted, and will almost never be censored with limited exceptions in the obvious extreme circumstances. These themes may and will include life, death, love, hate, war, the universe, politics, religion, and many more.

My overarching goal is to continue growth in writing, knowledge, and self-discovery. I am committed to honing my skills in these areas, expanding my understanding, and embracing every opportunity to learn, evolve, and debate opposing beliefs. I am on a journey to find reason in the most complicated of thoughts.
